Law enforcement officials in Jeju, South Korea, are looking into the homicide of a Chinese individual, which is suspected to be associated with a cryptocurrency transaction.
According to reports from local news sources, Jeju West Police Station revealed that four Chinese nationals - two females and two males, one of whom is in his 60s - are being questioned in connection with the murder of a man in his 30s at an upscale hotel in Jeju City on February 24.
Local media claims that the suspects made off with 85 million won ($63,500) that belonged to the victim.
The case gained attention when a friend of the victim reported him missing after he did not return from a cryptocurrency deal. Upon arriving at the hotel room around 5:10 p.m., the police discovered the victim deceased with numerous stab wounds.
Soon after, one of the suspects, a woman in her 30s, turned herself in at a police station in Seogwipo. Authorities subsequently apprehended two additional suspects at Jeju International Airport as they tried to exit the country. The fourth suspect, a man in his 60s, was taken into custody at a hotel casino.
Police are currently investigating if the suspects had premeditated the assault or if it was a disagreement that escalated into violence.

Based on initial statements, the woman who turned herself in may have been a key player in the crime. Investigators are examining phone records, security footage, and transaction history to establish the precise sequence of events.
Authorities have verified that all four suspects entered South Korea on tourist visas and had no prior history of illegal activities in the country. However, the police are also investigating whether they were part of a larger organization involved in cryptocurrency-related crimes.
Due to the increasing number of fraudulent and violent incidents linked to digital asset transactions, law enforcement agencies in Jeju have intensified their surveillance of such activities.
