Aya Miyaguchi, the Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, announced on Tuesday that she will be departing from her current position and transitioning to a new role as the organization's president.
This news arrives amidst a leadership shake-up within the nonprofit, as well as a decline in popularity for Ethereum among new developers in recent months. Some critics have attributed this decline in the blockchain's token price to Miyaguchi's leadership.
"This fresh opportunity will enable me to continue fostering EF's institutional connections, while also extending the scope of our vision and culture more extensively," Miyaguchi expressed in a blog post.
The Ethereum Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the development of the Ethereum blockchain. Established in 2014, Miyaguchi joined its ranks in 2018 and has served as executive director ever since.

CoinDesk reached out to a spokesperson from the EF to inquire about who will be filling the executive director position, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, wrote in a post on X that "each success of the EF - the consistent execution of Ethereum hard forks, client interop workshops, Devcon, Ethereum's culture and unwavering dedication to its mission and values, and more - is partly due to Aya's guidance."
